You can’t force someone to love you, but you can slowly win ‘em over with treats. I posted on Instagram about this trick that, in my experience, works for cats AND men. It’s one of many life lessons from my alley-cat-turned-indoor-terror, Shirley. Are they revolutionary lessons? No, she’s a cat. But they are nice reminders of stuff that’s easy to forget in the hustle.

That was my dad at bedtime on most vacations. Young Court stayed up way too late on a cot at Knights Inn, usually air cycling. I can still be a restless flopper, but these days I’m awake pondering infinity, searching for brunch recipes, or reading about America’s Most Wanted on Wikipedia.
When I was 11, I teamed up with my BFF to create G.O.F.C. (Girls Only Fun Club, obviously). We designed and ordered business cards for babysitting, convinced a local shop owner to display them, and ran a seven-year neighborhood monopoly. There was also a killer jewelry biz. I sold homemade friendship bracelets and beaded key chains door to door, looking much like Deb in Napoleon Dynamite.
The black hole of YouTube got me good the other day. Twenty-five minutes of beginner cardio led to DIY budget-friendly vegan creamy pasta (I’m not vegan), which led to TV host Megyn Kelly feuding with Jane Fonda. That, curiously, led to a short film about a book I’ll always keep on the shelf about what makes life meaningful. P.S. YouTube’s “recommended video” algorithm is the mystery of our time.
I’ve had a few Twilight Zone moments lately. What doesn’t make sense to me is met by others with “YES!”, the slow clap, and also what I’m sure is an applause track.
Welp, I’m feeling super adultish after my first condo association meeting. On top of critical discussions, like whether we approve a flower pot at the front entrance, there was a more fragrant twist.
